Highlights DSA Conference Business Meeting

Motion:  DSA should investigate regarding purchase of insurance to cover any form of cancellations.  Referred to Board.  Carried.

 

Motion:  DSA should have someone to coordinate SSP (Special Service Provider) services.  Referred to Board.  Carried.

 

Motion:  DSA set up a task force in regards to investigating nursing facilities.  Tabled.

 

Motion:  DSA changes its domain name to read as Deaf Seniors of America.  Carried.

 

Motion:  DSA Conferences should have more emphasis on Wellness.  Carried.

 

Motion:  DSA should write a resolution to FCC opposing any reduction of VRS rates.  Carried.

 

Motion:  Moved to refer nine remaining motions to Board.  Carried.

 

Election of Officers:  2007-2009

 

President Robert Cook – re-elected

Vice-President Richard Bonheyo – re elected

Secretary Nancy Rarus – re-elected

Treasurer Joe Rose – two remaining years (2005-2009)

Board Member #1 Jim Potter – two remaining years (2003-2009)

Board Member #2 Barbara Schmidt – four remaining years (2005-2011)

Board Member #3 Ronald Nomeland – (2001-2007) and was re-elected for 2007-20013,  Alice Hagemeyer and Marcia Nowak were also contenders for Board Member #3

 

 

Minutes of the Special Board Meeting

 

Conference Motion #1:  DSA should investigate regarding purchase of insurance to cover any form of cancellation.  Carried.

Board: Agreed that DSA investigate insurance coverage in event of cancellation of attending conference.

 

Conference Motion #2:  DSA should have someone to coordinate SSP (Special Service Provider) services.  Carried.

Board:  Agreed that having a SSP coordinator will be included in the Guidelines.  Carried.

 

Conference Motion #3:  DSA set up a task force in regards to investigating nursing facilities.  Tabled.

Board:  Motion #3 was untabled and it was agreed to establish a task force.  Carried.

 

Board:  Motion #4:  Moved to consider NYC for 2011 and that they need to report by August 1, 2007.  Carried.

 

Board:  Motion #5:  Moved that DSA explore further why liability insurance is necessary for the Board.  Carried.

 

Board:  Motion #6:  Moved that events/tours other than combination tickets be transferred if necessary.  Carried.

 

Board:  Motion #7:  Moved that those 85 years and older be permitted to buy on-site tour and special events; and that this be inserted in the guideline.  Carried.
